<description>Our adopted son is Autistic, Asperger's Syndrome. We have come in contact with many, many folks with ASD and PDD through our association with the mental health community and Special Olympics. The initial diagnosis is heart breaking, however, if you leave it there and move on, a new and wonderful world awaits. I am trying to learn to view people and communication through my son's eyes. Much of the time, I am spectacularly unsuccessful, but occasionally, and insight dawns which open up a whole new spectrum of conversation and understanding. One day, science my find the cause and perhaps a cure for Autism and other Developmental Disabilities. Until then, we continue to love, learn and listen.
