I frequently work with trauma in my psychotherapy and counselling practice and have recently become very aware of the role of pain treatment in surgery to minimise trauma, but I hadn’t heard of this.
Of course, many people are quite suspicious of steroids, but I can well imagine that, as you say, they are therapeutic here.
